Hello,

Looking for some advice please...

i am going to get a habistat 11 x 11 12watt heat matt and was woundering which one was a better thermostat? i am looking at Habistat Mat Stat Thermostat 100W & Habistat Pulse Proportional Stat 600W? i hear that the pulse are lot better so was just woundering on other people thought?

You won't need a stat that really goes beyond the 12W that the Heat mat uses, unless you're going to be running several mat's off the one stat.

The "Wattage" isn't an indication of how much energy the stat uses, more an indication of how much energy it CAN run, in other words, it could run "up to" a 600W setup (the pulse stat this is), but you wouldn't need one of those unless you wanted to heat a small area of forest..

A small mat-stat will handle your heat mat just fine There's no upkeep cost incurred by the stat's themselves, only the components that feed off them.

thanks for the reply :) yes i think i found them cheaper by about £12 then the pulse.. but i was wondering does the 100 w stat cost more to run? if so would i be beeter off paying the extra money to start with then saving it in the long run... + getting better results with the temps?

I think they're more accurate, yes, but the mat stat's do the job perfectly well, are perfectly reliable, and usually under 20 squid
