Hi there,

I currently have a 5ft adult corn snake that lives in a fairly decent size viv.

It has a ceramic dimmer heater that keeps the warm end pretty much right on 27 degrees.

Having had a fairly decent bonus this year what would be a 'money no object' best viv set up you can buy? Including lighting, the actual viv and heat sources etc.....

I was thinking custom something like this and then ordering the extras to be custom fitted.

What do you prefer for a light source?

I currently heat with a ceramic bulb, that of course just emits heat.

I was thinking of continuing with this as it does seem to give a very constant temperature, though I am not so sure if I really get a cool end and hot end with the Viv not being that wide. The snake does alternate which side she goes, but also seems to quite like spending a lot of time buried in her substrate, since increasing her viv size last time she rarely now goes under her rock as she did in her last viv. She has two hides, one on each side. One right under the lamp and one the other end, though of course heat rises. I have her temp sensor about 2 inches from the ground on her 'hot side' It generally reads 27.4.

If I mounted the heat source in the middle pointing to one end only it may solve this problem.

That is still a good price for that stack ;)

Haha thanks I'll keep it in mind if I ever find myself strapped for cash.

I would say its more time is no issue to get the vivarium (or vivarium stack) you want, it has taken me ages to design, redesign, build, and fit out a custom built stack, I have no previous experience of building furniture etc so its not impossible as long as you plan it out well. I haven't actually tallied up the cost but for all the kit and wood, screws, paint, yacht varnish and sealant its probably somewhere between £200 and £300, maybe a smidge more.

This is a little something I knocked together;

Give it a go, you might just be happy with what you come up with, I know I am.

If money and space were not an issue.... I would commission lotabob to make me a stack lol!! That's a good price for a 4ft viv though.

Better off just getting a viv then buying what u want to fit it out. Its down to person preferance not what money can buy
