My full spectrum lamp just broke and so looking to buy something new.
It is a Repi Glo 2.0 full spectrum. Just looking to buy a lamp to replace the broke one and fit into the existing holder.
Am also considering a uv tube aswell but unsure of which to buy.
The lamp i had appears to be a low level uv lamp aswell as full spectrum but it says on the manafaturers site that mine would be complemented with repti glo 5 as this has a higher level of uv output.
I am a little confused by this and not sure which combination to go for.
options seem to be a replacement repti glo 2.0 and a repti glo 5.0 or uv tube.
or
a plain daylight lamp to fit my holder and a uv lamp or tube.
Any opinions would be great.

Full spectrum is a fancy way of saying UV I believe they are both the same thing lol and UV/spectrum bulbs are pointless for corns, so long as they are in a room that gets light, all in dandy. If you are a teenage boy who doesn't wake up until 5pm and has the curtains closed all the time then yeah, those bulbs would probably be a good idea then. |

i have a standard repti glo 2.0 lamp. I assume you realise these give out uvb light already Thoug on a low level specially for snakes. |

was it a reptile vet? None of my corns have UV lighting and their normal behaviour is fine  |

Was at my vet today with a 5 year old carolina corn who has scale trauma. He is the clinics repile specialist and own several species.
He ran through full set up and maintainence details and recommendsa uv lamp. Although its not required corn snakes will benefit from a uv lamp to help normal behaviour patterns.

Yeah UV is not a requirement for these snakes and too high or on for too long could be harmful too. You might want to look into LED's for viewing, you can use UV for a few hours a day. |

I believe that corns don't actually need 'false' light and just normal daylight is enough for them so I would think that the plain daylight lamp to fit your holder would be ok. The only lights I use are some led lights from ikea just to make the viewing in the viv better for me so I am not very clued up on this topic but I am sure some more experienced keepers will be able to shed some light (excuse the pun). |
