Hi, I bought a bag of roughly fifteen medium mice two days ago from my reptile shop. Haven't had any problems from their mice before, but today when I went to defrost a couple they looked odd. First off they smelt a bit, frozen mice in the past that I've had didn't smell while they were frozen unless you stuck your nose on it and inhaled deeply lol, this might be normal but its just something I noticed. They looked 'old' I'm not sure how I would describe it, but they looked like they'd been frozen for a looooong time. And their tails and paws were not frozen, but not limp, just dry.

Left the two chosen ones in warm water for half an hour (as usual) to defrost, and when I checked them they felt strange. Like their skin was leathery inside in places, like they had bits of wet card under their skin? Hard to describe.
Anyway, I threw one out because it was strange and cut the other's tail and legs off (the dry bits) because it didn't have any leathery intestine thing going on. Lyra loved it anyway lol.

So. My questions are, has anyone else experienced this? Are they still okay to feed my snakes? What is it and how was it caused?

Much love, L

If they were frost burnt from being frozen for to long or in generally bad condition I would have taken them back. The goods were not in good condition or fit for purpose and should still be covered by Sale of Goods.

A return and polite word of dissatisfaction and an exchange should keep everyone on friendly terms.

Ohh I see what you mean, that reassures me that I'm not going to kill my snakes by feeding them rotten rodents lol! I think when I run out I'll get say five and if they're still bad I look elsewhere.

Yeah lol I could, but I'll give them another chance me thinks- if what Staple says is true then its not technically their fault
