Thanks |

Posted - 18/06/2014 : 19:59:03 Hi, I appreciate this is a very old thread but I noticed the post about the bugs in aubiose and thought I'd ask as I've discovered some. Tiny things 1 mm if that with a white almost see through body and darker head and upper body. Are these what you guys had and are they springtails?
Cheers!! |

Posted - 21/01/2012 : 09:22:50 Yes it is fine, so long as your snake isn't prone to sneezing or wheezing I would guess as it is kinda dusty! The one that had a problem with it huffs and puffs anyway at climbing up the stairs. Mine loved to dig in it. If you got a place local to you, you can pick it up for like £8 a bag or cheaper. Auboise has small bits sometimes as you get near the bottom of the bag, either that or dead springtails :p

They are after a dig about :p

Posted - 21/01/2012 : 00:00:14 Is Megazorb okay for snakes who love digging? I found a good place £15 for 85ltrs, so I'd totally go for it if it's cool for those who spend most of their time digging and snuffling about. It says double dust extracted, but I'd hate for Holly to get ill inhaling the dust or something.

Posted - 20/01/2012 : 22:53:54 I got springtails in my auboise as well. Still use it, I just change the water everday until I see no more spring tails crawling about. I'd love to use megazorb if I could again but I would have to use a different substrate of the one that wheezes and that's just faffing. It is very soft and light, have you tried ringing places that stock rat/gerbil/hamster stuff and horse places? Big garden places like downtown sell it.
My b/f brother uses ecobed for his rats, its just nicely cut up cardboard bits. |

Posted - 20/01/2012 : 21:56:40 i use it, have done for years now, never had any issues with it. I dont tend to put anything down for them to feed on, never caused any problems, and is part of the reason i use it, if i put something down for each to feed, i would be there forever and a day, its just taken me 2 hours to feed everyone as it is! |

Posted - 19/01/2012 : 22:16:38 I've used megazorb in the past for about a year. I didn't get any bugs, smells nice of egg boxes (yeas I'm a freak and I love that smell!) Did find odd shapes like a ruler made out of the stuff, it was really hard and a set square though. I would always put something down or feed out the viv if you can as it is so light, you breath and a bit of it flies off. Only problem and why I switched to Auboise was that local stopped selling and my oldest snake who wheeze with cat hair or doing too much stuff, would sneeze and wheeze on it as it was dusty, rest of my snakes were fine though.
Best thing for stucking up poops to scoop up though! |
