i went into the rep shop i bought my two from and they said that the guy that bred them has gone on holiday and they do not know how to sex them eekk! does anyone know of anywhere in the colchester area that can sex my snakeys? the other shops in the area are not specific rep shops and cant sex them

i have booked them in at the vets to get them sexed this friday, its £15 for both which isnt too bad and its will be done by a specalist |

Is there at pets at home near you that sells snakes as it's possible one of their members of staff may be able to do it. When I said the vet did it while i went for something else, i meant another problem with the same snake. Plus you need to check that the vet will deal with reptiles as many wont. My usual vet is only 5 minutes away from me but I have to travel 45 minutes to get to my rep vet. Hope you can find somewhere to do them, I have to say that rep shop doesn't instil me with much confidence in them lol. |

seapets dont sex and swallow pets is actually over an hour away im the other side of colchester. i will ring the vets in the morning and see if i can take them when i take the cats for their checkups at the end of the month. thanks everyone for your help. :) |

Just done a quick google search and found the above which sell reptiles. If you give them a ring before you go and ask them they will be able to tell you if they probe snakes and how much it is. One of my local rep shops probes for free, another charges £2 each snake. If you take it to a rep vet they probably will probe it as I got my vet to do one of mine. However, it was while I was already seeing him for something else so if you go solely for probing they will charge you a consultation fee that could be £20+.

I may be wrong but I'm pretty sure you can tell from a young age with snakes by popping / probing. The ones in my local rep shop are only a few months old and have their sexes written on each individual RUB. |

they were a bit odd about it, saying they didnt know where he was or when he was back. it can wait im not i a mega hurry i would just like to know, do vets normally charge? |
