Hi, I'm not sure if I'm being really stupid (or extremely over cautious) but do you need to get the hair off of a coconut before using it for a hide?

(I have cleaned and sterilised the coconut etc)

I boiled them and put them in the oven and that was my only worry left, but the worry is over! You've reassured me and now I can put them in for Sylar! She's gonna love em! Thanks Paulie :)

Niall its not a stupid question i use coconuts for hides for my fish the bristlenose especially like to use them as spawning caves id still boil them before use if i planned to use them in my vivs though just to kill any nastys id probably leave the hairs on it gives the snakes a nice surface to rub up against when shedding
