Hi need to buy a thermostat and dont know the best one to get. Do you need a 100w max or a 300w max? Got a four month old corn and not sure of the difference between the sizes?
Thanks Terry.

The Habistat 100W is more than adequate for a heat mat. The maximum rating for the huge mats is still only 60 Watts. You are more than likely not going to go above the 17x11 20W mat.

The higher rated thermostats are intended for higher power units such as ceramic heaters & heat lamps which go up to 250W.

The slot control does have the advantage over those with a dial knob in that it can't be accidentally turned up by bumping against it or be 're-tuned' by little helpful kiddy fingers.

Best to match components for their designed use and rating.

Personally I would go for the habistat temperature thermostat 300w (if you are using a heat mat that is). Its easier to control the temps with a turnable knob rather than the slot that needs a screw driver (habistat mat stat). I also find the temperature thermostat to be excellent at keeping an even temp mine cut in at 28.2c and out at 28.9c. The mat stat I have cuts in at 27.9c but cuts out 30.2c. A bigger flutuation in temps.

You wanting one for a heat mat? If so a Habistat Mat Stat will be sufficient. Retail online for around £20-25.

If its not a heat mat then you'll need to consider a Pulse Stat or Dimming Stat.

EDIT: Couple of Links for you here, depending on which one you want to use.
