I've used aquarium sealant or a hot glue gun to secure the heatmats in my vivs. I did attempt just using a hide to hold one down but my king moved the heatmat up the viv so I had to secure it in a better way...flippin' hooligan!

As everyone says please try and avoid tape! My corn has a deformity on her because of duct tape that her previous owner had her stuck on. It causes so much harm, i just have a hide over the heat mat in my viv xx

I'm going to use a thin slate tile over the heat mat, have tested and all looks good, enough weight to hold the mat down and thin enough to allow the heat through.

do NOT use tape at all in the housing. If it came loose somehow and your snake slithered over it you risk the snake ripping its scales and skin.

I would never use tape inside a viv as I would always be worrying that the edges could curl up as the snake slides over it. I just use hides to weigh my mats down. Sometimes a coupld of the snakes decide to go hiding underneath it but as long as the thermostat probe cant move off it then the snake wont get too hot.

there no real need to secure it down was the weight of hide will be enough. tape isnt the best idea for anything inside viv incase it manages to get stuck to snakey. but i did for a while have a mat taped with duck tape without issues, just need to make sure that non of the edges of the tape can lift, also i used drawing pins for a while but in the end just decided to lay the mat down an cover it with substrate.

in the viv the evil tape no matter what should not be used, all you need is for a corner to curl up and snake can get tangled in the tape. This will do no good to the snake as it will thrash about trying to get it off and if you try and get it off at best you may remve scales at worst well you can guess the rest.

use silicon gel or a hide to hold the mat down

I use duct tape.

Edit: Just wanted to clarify that the duct tape i use is underneath the lino I use as a substrate where my snakes and lizards cannot reach and get caught on it
