Posted - 26/09/2011 : 18:16:24 Hi guys, well I upped hettys food to two pinkys on fri eve and she gobbled them down, I was a bit nervous because wasn't sure if she could handle two... And my worries were unfortunately right... II've left her in peace for 68 hrs assuming she might need more digestion time, and she's been hidden away in the warm hide.but this eve I've found a regurge(a small mushy mess, not even the size of a pinky)usually after one pinky she's out and about after 24-36hrs, but this time she's stayed hidden.also I've just noticed she's in blue aswell! Which explains the hiding, but is the regurge due to too much food or because she's about to shed? Should I feed her next week as usual but back to 1 pinky? |

Posted - 27/09/2011 : 19:39:13 Yep I'm gonna leave it 10 days and back to 1 pinkie too! Not sure about the blue stage in corns as I've yet to witness it myself (missed it last time as I was away).quote: Originally posted by Regalmatt
Sorry to hear nagini regurged too,I'm going to leave it 10 days from when I fed her before I try again, but back to one pinky for a while! She's still in blue and hasn't come out of warm hide since her feed, she's had blue eyes for 48 hrs now, how long does the blue stage usually last?

Posted - 27/09/2011 : 19:37:06 From the pics I've seen it looks like pinkie regurge, dark pinkish with darker bits on the ends. I have to admit it didn't really smell too bad though. Nagini normally poops lots of little bits that end up hard and black (found more lil bits of poop today too).quote: Originally posted by lotabob
Are you sure its regurge?
You made no mention to the fact that it stinks so bad it can strip paint? A freshly laid poo is a mushy mess and will smell but regurge REALLY burns the nostrils and thought you might have mentioned this fact.

Posted - 27/09/2011 : 09:30:36 Nagini had regurged too! :(. Strangely enough she only brought back 1 pinkie and she had pooped so now I'm really confused! |

Posted - 26/09/2011 : 20:10:26 I don't think they are particularly common....but only having one snake i'm probably not the best person to ask about how common they are. You'll be fine to take the shed out once it happens - hopefully you'll be able to see the caps etc on this, without needing to check Hetty specifically.
You have certainly not failed! Don't think that, please. It is all a good learning experience and you can only grow and improve from it |

Posted - 26/09/2011 : 19:46:54 Cheers guys, garrie, I've read it already, thanks, but now I'm concerned that because hetty is in blue, I'll not be able to check when she sheds for eye caps etc,I feel gutted, like I've failed as a cornsnake owner in this short period of time. Are regurges common? Or am I in a small minority of people? |

Posted - 26/09/2011 : 19:18:38 Sorry to hear Hetty regurged. http://www.thecornsnake.co.uk/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=7792 There is a lot of useful information here about it - the most important info being not to feed her again for at least 10 days to allow her stomach acids etc to get back to normal |

Posted - 26/09/2011 : 18:41:35 Sorry the 2 pinkies didn't work out so well! I upped Nagini to 2 pinkies last thursday and she scoffed the 2nd one down faster than the first! She didn't surface from her warm hide for 2 days but stayed at the warm end of the faun. She appeared to still have a slight 'bump' so I left her alone. This morning I found her in the cool hide and the 'bump' has vanished. I'll get her out when she wakes in a bit and see if there's poop. Hopefully she's managed ok, but I'm wondering now myself whether I've upped her too soon? She really was getting hungry after 4-5 days after only 1 pinkie though! I really hope I can get some large pinkies soon, as maybe that would be better? |
