I got a snow corn - oh about 19th of August, a few days later after leaving him to settle after setting his box up I tried him with a pinky - he ate it and then regurged - the pinky seemed a little too big for him. So - I left him for a week again - completely alone except for water changing, offered him a tiny pinky - he rejected it, next morning he was in blue so I guess that answers why he didn't eat that one. Left him a few days again, and tried him with a brained pinky. Left that one in over night come morning he was squidge down the side of his hide as far away from the non eaten pink as he could get.
So, come this wednesday, I tried JUST a pinky head, brained, he retreated into his hide when I offered it so I flicked it into the door of his hide and covered him up. Come morning it was gone! hurray...and thus far not regurged. So now my question is - next feed, head again or try a whole little pinky....and when should I try again? He's currently in a cricket tub, he has a 9ltr RUB to move into when hes bigger. Temps are between 24-26 on the warm end. He has a heat mat just under his hide.

I think I may try a whole tiny brained pinky - if he doesn't take it I'll lop its head off again (Blergh)

lol I don't know why I am worrying so much, he's not my first snake...I think its because he's so small haha

As long as the tub is no more than half on the heat mat you should be fine
FerretDragon Posted - 09/09/2011 : 09:52:54
There is one attached...but I was worried about him not having a cool end. As I said, its sorted now :)

The temp need to be above 27 and below 30. It wont over heat if you have a thermostat attached.

the cricket box is what he's living in actually - I only have a 9ltr RUB for him to move into - is that too large? I can pick up a smaller one today if it is.

So I still think that his regurge was due to the size of the pinky rather than temps because it was literally a couple hours after he had eaten it.

do you have a small tub? Like a cricket box? or perhaps the box it came in when you bought it? I find with my young snakes who become like this with feeding, if I put them in the box with the feed and put the wee box back in their housing, just leave them to it... and when I go back later on they have eaten it.

Might be worth a try xx

His temps were higher last time (About 26 when I first fed him) - the regurge was the very next morning. Have moved his rub a bit more onto the mat and they are now up to 27 currently but I have JUST moved it back. Was worried about over heating him in the cricket tub. All sorted now though

I'd feed again in a week. I feed my hatchie every 7 days. I'd try braining and covering a whole pinkie to see if that works. It may well just be a shy eater.

Also i'd get the heat up to between 27-30*c (at the warm end) as that is the optimum temperature so that could be what caused previous regurge. Too cold or too hot and its not digested properly. It lingers in the stomach to long when too cold, and decays faster when to hot.
