Hi all,
Its pablos first feed with us tonight, breeder says he is a good eater but he is our first snake so i was wondering how you suggest we feed him? just dangle the thawed out pinky in front of him or leave it in his viv for him to eat in his own time?

Bulge looks perfect. He is a cutie. I'm glad he took it for you. Sometimes it takes them a little while to make sure that it's safe to eat as that is when they are most vulnerable.

Finally got him to eat after about an hour and a half...here are the pics :)

Sneaky lad started when i wasnt looking

He has a bulge in his tummy but its not massive....is that still alright?

It may help to cover his viv up as he may be a little shy of being watched.
Raycheroo Posted - 05/09/2011 : 21:43:33
well after about 20 mins of the pinky being in his viv, he has just been faking us out lol he has moved closer to it but still hasnt gone in for the kill :P

Oh good luck! I've always fed mine in seperate tubs straight from the start and just placed them in with their pinkies. Once I know they are more settled and are feeding well I've dangled the mouse for them. You'll find everyone has their own way of doing things,as does each snake.

we have the tongs ready to go hehe i shall place some kitchen paper in there so he doesnt eat the aspen
shaunb Posted - 05/09/2011 : 17:21:12
I take mine out and feed them in a tub or a new kitchen bowl i brought just for them, and i use a pair ov tongs to dangle in front of them cos i like it when they strike and constrict, but what ever way you decide to do it hope it goes well for you good luck
Raycheroo Posted - 05/09/2011 : 16:51:34

Mine hide for abou 18hrs. Then she's out and about exploring again. Amazing how different they all are.
Okeetee Mick Posted - 05/09/2011 : 16:41:05
Yes good luck, just one thing don't expect to see him for a couple of days, mine go into the warm hide and stay there.
Simmy_82 Posted - 05/09/2011 : 16:35:05
Good luck, let us all know how it goes.
Raycheroo Posted - 05/09/2011 : 16:34:26
Hehe i cant wait to be able to hold him, but anyway thank you for the advice, shall put it to use tonight :-)
Okeetee Mick Posted - 05/09/2011 : 16:33:53
I have four and have fed all of them their first feeds in the viv, I think it just settles them quicker.
Simmy_82 Posted - 05/09/2011 : 16:30:47
Ok then best to leave it on a piece of kitchen roll (if you use aspen) so that its cant potentially swallow any aspen. Leave it on their so that it can find and feed it for itself.

Mine was pretty skittish the first few handling sessions, but usually calmed down after a few minutes and happily explored my hands and arms. Just build your confidence with handling slowly.
