sorry if this has been answered before im a new snake owner (previously owned leopard gecko). my corn is 2 months old and is real friendly loves being out and exploring! it seems a shame that he wants some freedom and i cant provide it because he wants to go where he isnt aloud. and previously my girlfriends brothers snake managed to escape for 4 days in the flat im living in now! i let him explore on the bed but i have to keep picking him up and putting him in the centre again when he goes near the edge and obviously after a few times of this he is frustrated and stressed and wants to go back in his tank. any tips of a good way to let him roam around a bit without him escaping, or a sort of run like a rabbit or guinea pig run for a corn would be excellent. sorry if this has been answered a hundred times over i couldnt find any info any where

Mine roam around on the bed (one at a time) whilst we're watching TV but I always make sure it's not a poo day (after being caught out a few times) and that I always keep one hand on them. They always try to get behind the headboard. Stairs is another one but I sit on the stairs with them. I didn't think of a chair - that's a genius idea and I'm definitely gonna try it.

What sort of size can you start giving them a bit more freedom? My baby is still quite small and fast, and can move very quickly when he wants to. I'm paranoid that if I let go of him at all I won't be able to catch him. His out time just involves being in my hands while trying go up my sleeves etc.

Will he slow down if he's put in a large flat area (i.e. on the bed), or just go full speed ahead and fall instantly off the sides and disappear forever??

one word: chairs. My 3 adults love our dinning room chairs. They are wooden with lots of gaps and grooves to weave in and out of. Spend hours they could. My yearling also loves the outside. we have a nice stretch of (newly cut so its not long) grass which I put her in and let her explore. I stay near her at all times, in case of birds or cats but I get to have a little sun too! win win.

fluffy is quite big now so I let him wander around my bedroom, I keep a very close eye on him though ... there isn't much else you can do really, they can climb out of anything :)

gotta second the stair idea, its fairly safe and all ours seem to like it. some people let their snakies have a roam in the garden too but im waaaaaay to paranoid for that method!

no! Corns love to come out and explore! Can you imagine just been stuck in your house all day, every day!? Not handling your snake could also result in it been very unsociable.

Isn't wadering around a viv/rub enough :p just add new stuff once in a while in there, such as replacing old loo rolls in their with new ones as they smell mor eindtresting.

I let Tobasco wander pretty much where he wants to go. I just guide him away from cracks etc. I often do things like throw a blanket, over the floor. This keeps him occupied for a while and he cant go anywhere!

We have a throw over out sofa to prevent any squeezing though gaps - i am still a bit over protective tbh whilst he is still quite little...he always chooses a direction and persists though - main issue for me is that i live in a 400-500 year old house, so there are gaps under doors and skirting boards etc, i just try and keep him close without restricting him too much

Stairs if you have them! I usually put my snakes on a step half way down and then they climb up and down for ages! You need to keep an eye on them though obviously.

For something like that you would need what would essentially be another entire viv but without a bottom.
It's not really worth doing.
If mine want a wander then I generally let them have one, I just move them away from places they can get themselves lost or stuck.
Under sofas, between sofa cushions and similar they are moved away from. Climbing on the coffee tables, other people or the support bars are all good.

Hi there and welcome to the forum. I just let mine roam around the livingroom (keeping a good eye on them of course)
