i happened to put a hydrometer in the forarium for no other reason than i had one spare. humidity reads little over 30% and i wondered if i should increase humidity a little or leave dry as possible? maybe add a water bowl over the heat during shedding?

oh its just a cheap dial thing but known to be ok as i have used it in incubators. interesting that room humidity is 40% but 33% in the breeder box. i have a theory that the kitchen towel substrate is quickly absorbing vapour and turned in to dry air via the heat mat. it's quite handy to have a bit of humidity to play with in case of shedding difficulties, while being well within a healthy environment for snakey. it might be useful for those trying to decrease humidity to try using the absorbant paper towels. just a thought!

what type of hygrometer is it?

if it's a dial one i really wouldn't worry at all.......tbh, i wouldn't worry if it was a digi one either
normal room humidity is absolutely fine which is why you'll find most keepers don't bother measuring or monitoring it

thats fine for when the snake isnt in shed but yes i would move the water bowl further into the middle, or some moss (humidity box) or lightly spray with some water every now and then whilst in shed
