Hi guys just been looking at exoitic pet insurance ive been bitten rather badly in the past a few times with horrendous vet bills
I know a trip to the vets with a snake would probably cost a pretty packet Just did an online qoute with exotics direct for both snakes to be insured (including cover of vet bills) it comes to a little under £14 a month or for one snake a little under £12 how daft is that just wondered how many of you guys actually have insurance? or if anyone could reccomend any other companys ?

ooh Aegis i will have to check my insurance policy i hadnt thought of that failing that i have an empty bank account lol i could just set up a standing order once a month to trasnfer 5-10 quid to it as a saftey net at least then god forbid the need for a vet should ever arise i wont have to worry about the policy paying out or finding funds to pay the excess

I checked my policy before, and my snake is covered under my house insurance for vet bills up to the value of £600. Not much, but im sure it would be a help!

Normal pet insurance CAN be so expensive! Luckily covered under my house tho because she never leaves here!

Take me shopping a33 :3

Taking a look at exotics direct... they have corns listed for some reason under different headings, one under ratsnake, redrat and another under other snakes, cornsnake :/ If they are like some pet insurancers, they try and weasel out of paying for it, or most of it. For example, the mbk/black kingsnake issue..

Also apparently I cannot get a quote or get insured as apparently being 22, does not count as being over 18. No joke.

I got one of those money tins you can't open unless you destroy it (can opener) So I just drop my bits and bobs in for a rainy day, and no temptation to take little bits out here and there! :)

i know someone who puts 10 quid away every month for a just incase rather than putting it to an insurance company,at least at the end of the day you get to keep the money if nothing happens and treat youself :)

Thats not bad eeji i know snakes rarely get sick and im pretty good at spoting even the slightest of problems with my pets (even my fish ive never had an outbreak of whitespot or anything)i dont forsee any problems occuring obviously but im disabled and itd be very hard for me to find a large sum of money if i was suddenly lumbered with a big bill
cant wait to see your qoute hahah i doubt ill get the insurance cover i was just intrigued lol

Nope, I just have a couple of hundrend away for safety incase of any vet treatment needed.

nope, no insurance here. In the 10 years I've been keeping reps my total vet bill comes to a total of £160, with only £30 of that for one snake. The other 130 was for a very ill lizard.

for a giggle I'm going to do an online quote too :)

**edit - scratch that, they only allow 8 at a time per quote and only allow vet cover for 3 animals per policy which means I'd need to take out 10 separate policies to cover them all :(
