we have been taking 7 week old snakey out every evening other than after his feed. he has a cloth money bag courtesy of the local post office and spends his time in the bag, out the bag, up your sleeve....etc. he is very calm and after his initial bolt for freedom settles down well for up to an hour or so. i thought is best he get used to the goings on of our rather large family. he also ventures out of his hide of an evening now. peeking over his kitchen towel he seems to be a fan of holby city. i thought it best to take the 'carry on regardless' approach so he gets used to the sounds, smells and bussle of family life. i do hope this is correct. all seems well, good feeder and an easy shed early this week. |

We've never had any problems with ours shooting off.
I think as long as you make sure nothing's going to spook it, like a cat (we make sure ours our in the house), then they should be ok.
As said above, stay close and put it in a big a place as possible.
As long as they don't mind mind being picked up etc ...so you can grab them quickly if anything happens or they take a liking to a hedge lol, should be alright I think :)
Red and Mort are too busy investigating every pebble to even move quickly. |

Haven't tried it myself but I say keep them in an open space and stay a couple of inches in front of them at all times, but living room floor is a better bet I think. |

Only had Candy for a couple of weeks now and handle her for about 15mins a time. She's a big girl, about 3ft. When you all have yours in the garden are you not worried about them shooting off?
How do you make sure they dont? lol |

fluffy loves coming out, the longest he has stayed out is about 1hr, I can't wait until he's a bit bigger so that he can come in the garden with me :) |

Red's been out for over an hour before. About 20 mins in garden, although on that warm spell we had not long ago she was very content just exploring for longer.
She usually doesn't want to go back in and will immediately turn and try and get out again.
She's very very curious and is more than happy to be out of her viv unless she's just ate, in which case she just flops into one of her hides for a day or so .... head still poking out and watching everything though lol. |

I haven't a clue what the longest is. It depends on the snake too. Falcor tends to stay out the longest as he's the only snake I have that actively shows he doesn't want to go back in his viv bless him. |

To be honest, I lose track. I have had them out on the living room floor an last year on the garden. I sometimes feed my older ones on the living room floor |

Just over an hour i think, built it up thought. She wasnt used to handling before. But now when i let her our she is happy to just work her way around my neck and fall asleep in my hood usually! |

Not including Goonies escaping adventure (which wasnt planned!), the longest i've had one of mine out was about 3 hours.
Harrison the python and Dinger came to my work at nursery to show off and get fondled by the kids 
They were super well behaved and had the kids drew lots of pictures of them lol |

Listers been out for 2 hours before, he was just happy crawling around my neck and diving into my hood, so I left him to it :P |
