pleased you got your temps sorted

Glad it's all sorted now. I actually put cardboard underneath my heatmats to protect my wooden dresser from the heat.

Good news - and good luck with your new snake.

If you are anything like i was you'll be paranoid and watching that thermometer like a hawk for a bit :) (Not that its a bad thing)

Cardboard is a good insulator so that probably explains your problem.

After having a heatmat under a faun for months i noticed the tiniest smallest amount of effect in the plastic over all that time, its just not hot enough to cause a problem.

Stick the faun on the mat, if it was anything like mine it will have a small air gap between the two (the faun will prob have small feet). Fix the thermostat probe to the floor on the inside of the faun.

Also, if you will be using substrate stick that in now too - basically as it will be, minus the snake.

yep, cos its only a plastic faun and didnt wanna risk direct heat contact
kdlang Posted - 26/08/2011 : 13:27:29
Do you mean the cardboard is in between the heatmat and the faun?
ScalySituation Posted - 26/08/2011 : 13:12:53
yah i do, but the thing is theres the heat mat on the surface, then theres the spacers and a sheet of cardboard to elevate the faun slightly is this ok??
andys Posted - 26/08/2011 : 13:03:37
Assume the heat mat is under the faun, thermostat probe inside the faun ? (You do have a thermostat?)
tordyjo Posted - 26/08/2011 : 13:02:43
have you tried turning the thermostat up just a tiny little bit - about a mm of a turn at a time and see if this adjusts your temp.

bet you can't wait till tomorrow
