Posted - 23/08/2011 : 11:45:47 So, on alot of advice i changed Karuza's feeding routine to 1 small mouse every 7 days until she moves up bigger. Fed her last wednesday, left her for the 48 hours before handling and jings she was moody! Usually just wraps around my neck and falls asleep or goes in my hair or hood. But instead she was basically head butting me in the nose. No tail rattling or hissing though.
She has been doing the same every day since! I refuse to let her go back in the viv just for head butting! And she jumps really fast to my face every now and again as if to say she is gonna strike, but again, that doesnt put me off! She gets handled and thats it!!
Is this because i changed her feeding? Also bearing in mind with the last owner she went over 8 weeks without feeds so i didnt think it would bother her!
She shed not long ago which was fine, when i fed her there was no problems. Poop and pee normal.
Any ideas?! Gonna take her out soon, see how she is. |

Lol! Thanks, i laugh at it too! Took her out last night for a while, she seemed pretty hyper but calm. Until i went to put her back in the viv and she turned and head butted me again, on the cheek this time! Maybe its goodnight kissies?! Lol! |

Posted - 23/08/2011 : 13:22:08 Nah she is about 3-4 but has been taking small mice due to a deformity (basically a twist) so the previous owner had never tried bigger. But i will be once my mice are done. Im pretty sure she is capable of medium mice or even large!
Had her out and she seemed alot calmer today. Round the neck then into the hood. Maybe it will just take a while to adjust again?
Also with previous owner, she was very flighty and not really used to regular handling. Have had her for a while though and she has changed alot since she came here! |

Posted - 23/08/2011 : 12:53:44 How old is she? If she's on a small mouse then she may be a year or two? Mine is a year old now and just moved to small mice, she has started having random sprints of speed and jumpiness one moment then perfectly calm the next. I'm putting it down to her young age, she's still flighty and it takes a long while for snakes to establish themselves etc. Do what I do and just keep handling her very regularly, keep calm slow movements, make sure she can always see your hand before you touch her etc. Might just be a random phase as they do have big individual personalities! hope that helps! |
