Posted - 20/08/2011 : 09:12:17 i got home last night just in the nic of time to prevent and escape , i thought harry was too big to get through the gap in the doors but still put pieces of cardboard in as a precaution, it didn't quite reach all the way leaving a cm gap at the top. Got home to find harry with his head all the way out the viv, as soon as he saw us he retracted back inside and i've now completely blocked the door way up and i've checked this morning and he's happy and safe

Posted - 20/08/2011 : 19:46:41 thanks for the tip, might have to head out to diy shop tomorrow, probably looks better than cardboard wedged in doors, once he's outgrown the viv and moved into the next size our girl lilly will be moving in and she's smaller than harry, so it will def need to be blocked for her |

Posted - 20/08/2011 : 19:30:43 in helping stop escapes through glass doors we bought a small glass viv for our hatchling the size of the large faunarium and I was already worried after reading peoples comments so my other half bought some self adhesive draft excluder for windows( looks like padded sticky tape!) It's about a cm wide and 4/5 mm thick on a roll. He just ran it down both sides from top to bottom so it's directly in front of where the door touches the sides and on one door where it overlaps the other and it works fantastically !!! x Our hatchling was only 4 weeks old so very teeny when we got her and we have now had her nearly 4 weeks and she hasn't ,managed to move it a mm ( not for lack of trying!!) . hope this is helpful !! x

Posted - 20/08/2011 : 16:04:07 the viv looks really attractive with the doors jammed with cardboard, i've got a toilet roll tube folded and wedged in and also a length from a catfood box folded and wedged, am so pleased i came home when i did and avoided a potential escape, i honestly didn't think he would be able to fit through that gap, he's just gone a year, think the cardboard might be staying for a little while longer |
