hello all
my corn is a hatchling was hatched on the 14.6.11 have had it since24.6.11 got it say it dont know if male or femal?any way just a little worried about it not seen it out in tank much normaly see it from time to time in tank just woundering around last feed was 13.8.11 due one today but like i say not seen it its still in there found fresh poo and can see it under substrat but was wondering if it anything to be worried about or is it the norm for a young snake do corns hide for long time? hope some wise snake god can shed some light on this for me tar

My Sidney was over a year old before he stopped hiding even though he would let me handle him. Don't worry, some snakes just like to hide.  |

Thats good to hear that she still ate for you. She must be one happy little snakie. Just remember she may hold onto her poop now until she sheds so don't be worried if you don't see one when you expect to. And beware when you get her shed out as poop may be in it or very close |

 the pinkie is in the belly just went up to check and watch her for a bit and it took her a wile to find it but she was soon chopping down on a pinkie yay now happy hiding in a coconut shell |

if she hasn't eaten the pinky by morning take it out, i would then wait until she sheds to feed again, her eyes will go clear again and then he should shed a few days later |

she wasnt interested in comeing out at all like normal eithen leaving me hand in tank for half hr but looking at her shes ready to shed gone realy dull in coulor and got blue eyes so left pinkie on kitchen roll hope she finds it left it on cold side ?or dose it need to be warm side ?if she dosnt eat it il throw it but do i leave till she shed or next feed is due |

I would get him out as normal. Some snakes eat as normal when they are getting ready to shed anyway so even if he is, he may eat as normal. If he doesnt seem interested then you can pop it in his tank on some kitchen roll and leave it overnight. |

and should i still feed today if its may be going to shed ?do i get it out like normal or place pinkie on kitchen roll in tank and leave it to it and i feed every 5days i pinkie |

My hatchling likes to spend a lot of time in the cold hide, curled up in a coil. He does come out for a wander every evening round about 9 pm to probe the faun's defences and to eyeball me. So I think it's normal, I guess in the wild they would want to hide from any predators which might think they're a tasty snack! |

Young snakes do hide away alot. In fact most of my older corns do as well. If you can give us a few details about your set-up and feeding regime we may be able to advise if there is anything else. |

could be as young snakes grow quickly. But its perfectly normal for young snakes to hide away most of the time. |

It may be about to shed. We've only had ours for 3 weeks, but he went into hiding for almost a week before shedding at the weekend. |
