so im feeding my snake 1 fluffy a week, and i only ever buy 4 or 5 at a time. they are individually wrapped in the freezer and in their own special tupperware container (along with the blood worms for the axolotl) but no matter what we do, i cannot get the smell of mice out of the freezer.

everything in the freezer smells (and kinda tastes) like mice. from the bread, to the chips. even the icecream.

just wondering. how do others not always have the smell of mice around.

I don't think it's the mice that is the problem I think you have a faulty freezer, only ever had mousey small when defrosting them.I keep mine in a ice cream tub at the bottom of my freezer.

Keep mice and rats in my freezer with no smell at all. Mealworms in the fridge is a different matter lol.

Silly suggestion, but might be something to look at - is your freezer temp ok? If the mice aren't freezing through properly or there is some sort of fault, they might be 'rotting' as it were, and that would explain the smell. Shot in the dark I know

I have to say I have never had mousey smell in the freezer either and some of mine are only in plastic bags tied up as I haven't got room in my freezer for loads of tubs

Mine don't stink the freezer either o.o; and mine are in plaggy bags inside take away tubs.

Sorry no smell here either, are you sure it is the mice?

I use a plastic pot like that with the blue seal in the lid, i've never had the dead mouse smell, again like the others tends to be when they're defrosting

thanks. they're in one of those clip lid containers with the blue rubber bit around the seal. i cleaned out the freezer again tonight. disinfected it and all. so we'll see in a few days.

I don't have that problem either, they just stink when heated up for my royals

I dont have any smell of frozen mouse in my freezer, its only when defrosted that they stink of dead mouse!

You sure its not a problem with your actual freezer??? Iv never had a frozen mouse, rat, guiney pig, or rabbit smell!

I've never had any frozen mice smell, they hum a bit when defrosted. Try sealing them in an airtight container in the freezer. I have rats the size of Yorkies in my freezer too, in a lunch box thing and they stink when defrosted but not even a whiff when they are frozen.
