this might sound like a daft question but i got this bit of wood when walking my dog it was already broken off and on the floor but not sure what type of wood it is, any ideas from the pic.




there was no pine or cedar near it. i have removed the bark and sanded down then soaked for about 5-6 hours in water an a small amount of bleach its now been well rinsed in the shower and is now drying next to the boiler
