Posted - 30/05/2011 : 16:06:54 I was asked this question today, do snakes need lights to distinguish between night and day, I said they can see so will know when its naturally dark, is this right ? |

Posted - 31/05/2011 : 15:21:09 Snakes have got amazing eyesight, they do see colour but what colours is not known. From the research I have done they can also see the uv spectrum that we cant. |

Posted - 30/05/2011 : 21:24:57 yes, they need daylight and darkness and the length of each per 24 hour cycle is one of the triggers that lets them know which season/time of year it is
eg. the daylight hours getting longer usually indicates the start of spring and going into summer - the breeding season! - so the snake can act accordingly! |
