just to throw a spanner in the works of all the worried cornsnake owners..............even digital thermometers can be waaaaay out!!

we use digital thermometers in over 50% of the RUBs in our rack, at least one RUB per shelf of 2 or 3 has a thermometer. all the thermometer probes are situated in the same place within the RUBs and they are all the same brand/style digital therms.

i've had one apparently 'rogue' heat strip that was giving me 28*C at one end and 32*C at the other end or so i thought........
having moved some of the RUBs into different locations within the rack it appears the problem isn't the heat strip it's the blinking thermometer over-reading

so, the moral of this story is:
periodically double-check what your thermometers are reading, either with another digi one or even an analogue 'mercury' style one (but not the dials )

Would need to be quite a big thermometer to measure ear temperature from that end of the cat!
Plus, he might not like me after, or even worse, might like me even more!

I do the same.
I always assume the digi probe ones are a few degrees out.
Saying that though, they're still better than the dial ones.
