Do you need a gap bewteen the heat strip and the RUBS to create airflow or is it best for the RUBS to sit directly on top of the heat strip?

My brand RUBs have no feet so all sit directly on the heatmat but my cheaper tubs have feet so are slightly raised. All keep the same temps though with or without the airflow.

I have mine right on the heat mats

depends on the heatmat........E-T Rainforest or Desert mats (i think, off the top of my head!) should only be used with an air gap and are provided with little feet to stick underneath the viv/tub/RUB

pretty much any other are fine directly underneath the RUB
