Posted - 02/04/2011 : 22:34:05 I've heard you can keep multiple mats on a thermostat, is this true/safe? And if so, how do you do it? I have a 100w Habistat running a small heatmat, and would like to know incase of a future corn, as it would save £30 odd quid :p |

Posted - 07/04/2011 : 14:32:44 what we do is tape the stat probe directly to the mat OUTSIDE the RUB, then set the stat to the temps the thermometers show (the therm probes being INSIDE the RUBs) result is = no fluctuation when you take any RUBs out of the rack |

Posted - 07/04/2011 : 12:50:57 I find the best stat is the pulse stat With multi mats if the one with the probe in sits at say 30 And you pull a rub with out the probe in it will cool down As the mats are pulsing when you put the cooler one back it will just rise back to the temp the mats are pulsing at :) |

It would take most of the day to get the temps to run close to each other after a full clean out.
I got the same results using vivs too Red, I was using a pulse stat as well! One read 27, another read 30 and another was 32 :/ |

Posted - 06/04/2011 : 16:19:14 i run multiple (identical) mats off one stat and monitor one RUB on each shelf in the rack |

Posted - 03/04/2011 : 10:42:57 Dont worry Sexybear77, I got a butt load of digital themometers measuring the temps, and am looking into getting one that makes a noise if it goes out of the optimum temps :) |

Posted - 02/04/2011 : 23:00:52 yes, the extension lead would get plugged into the stat and the mats plug into each socket on the extension |

Posted - 02/04/2011 : 22:53:14 Ah, glad to hear it's doable! But how exactly do you do it? Multi plug thing on the bit where the heatmat plugs into the stat, or some sort of wiring? By multiplug, I mean like those things which you plug into one socket to make 2/4/6 outlets etc etc, I forgot the naaame D: |

Posted - 02/04/2011 : 22:38:39 I do run multiple mats on single stats, ou just need to make sure all the mats are the same size and same wattage, there will be a difference between temps on each mat but not much, and also make sure you dont go over the maximum wattage for your stat.
But the downside is if the stat goes belly up you have lots of cool snakes, so is always a good idea to have a few stats spare just incase.
