Ok, so I've been reading about the different ways people feed their snakes, some re-freeze pinkies/fuzzies which have been refused and you just skip that feed and wait for the next feed date.

Question - if your snake refuses and has to wait till the next feed will that make it more inclined to be nippy with the keeper?

Thanks Red, I prepared exactly the same way before I got my 2 cats. I've gained an awful lot from the questions I've asked and well thanls to everyone for their patience.

I have had adults and youngsters miss feeds and have never had any problem with them being nippy. They are usually very keen when it comes round to the next feed though.

Ailsa, I think it is great that you are asking so many questions prior to you getting your corn, shows you are very commited to providing everything your corn will need and the correct care for it.

I have one that is settling in right now and has refused meals, I don't refreeze, just bin the rat/mouse (he's in quarrantine as well so I don't want to give it to someone else). Haven't noticed anything with a change to his behavior as far as being nippy, he's exactly the same.

Ditto for some of the above replies, when Vin missed 2 feeds while shedding he was fine with me, but he struck (for the 1st time) at his food! I'd never re-freeze mice, if he's still not taken it after I've left it in a while I just bin it and wait until next feed date :-)

I've never been bitten. If my snakes have gone for longer between meals due to shedding they've keener in regards to their food, but no different with me.

imo it doesn't make tham more nippy. If they go a few weeks without food (i occasionally purposely do this) their feeding response increases but it doesn't make them 'nasty' if you get what I mean

I'm not too sure about that, they don't get hungry in the same way we do, our stomach gives it the growl, if their digestive system is not in use it just shuts down and saves the energy. They are not running around, stomach growling looking for the proverbial scabby horse. Much more likely to be a defensive bite or a mistaken identity bite, but you would have to smell like food or be next to food for that to happen.

I think if you have a nippy corn then you have a nippy corn otherwise you only likely to be bitten if you; smell of rodent, persist them off, or hurt them. But snakes are snakes they can turn and give you nip just because they feel like it, they are wild and only tolerate us once they establish we are no threat. I've never been bitten by my snakes but one has tried and I got got by a wild snake I stood on.

Can't help there, my corns have never missed a feed. No, I lie, just one when she was in blue and I left her alone then anyway.

Never found this myself but i suppose it all depends on the snake.
