CAN ANY HELP I HAVE 2 CORN SNAKES AND 2 ROYAL PYTHONS AND WAS WONDERING IF ANYONE KNOWS IF THAT IF YOUR REPTILES REFUSE TO EAT CAN YOU REFREEZE THE RODENTS TO TRY AND FEED THEM THE SAME ONES A WEEK OR TWO LATER WITHOUT ANY ILL SIDE AFFECTS MANY THANKS |

I've never been in the situation where re freezing could be an option. Although if one of mine refused its feed I'd chuck it (the food,not the snake) as I'm too much of a stress head!  |

We don't refreeze here, mainly because I'm paranoid and have anxiety issues when it comes to my animals. 
I accidently left a bag of pinkies out on the counter once and had to bin all of them (there was about 30 in there). On the bright side, at least it was pinkies and not enormous monitor sized rats! |

On the test we did, there were small amounts of salmonella present both in faecal samples and a swab of the scales.
Also, pseudamonas was present in the mouth, an exceptional reason for a thorough clean if bitten!
On topic, I don't refreeze, mostly cos I don't need to! Infact, actually I do have one re frozen, however he's going in the bin! |

Yes and no. Yes you can refreeze it if its refused, no you can't offer it again the next day.
If they refuse it and you keep presenting food it can stress them out, if they refuse just skip that meal and attempt again on the next feeding date due. |

I re freeze ocationally due to a fussy JCP an I've never had issues with him having re-defrosted food and he's never regurged so no reason to think it's done any hard either. |

Ok, so for someone like me who's getting their first corn snake soon, if i offer a pinkie and it's refused can i re-freeze it and offer it again the next day? |

I don't refreeze mine (I have a dustbin AKA Royal Python) but I don't see any reason why you can't. Humans have not been exposed to bugs and stuff for so long we are no longer able to deal with bacteria the way most animals can, as we are the only animal that cooks its food so the food is already breaking down and sterilised when we eat it. This is not the case for snakes, they digest everything from scratch with whatever goes down with the food and they are entirely carniverous which allows them to digest the meat in its unprepared state and the stomach acid and flora will easily see off any bacteria in their food. If the food is bad snakes know it and won't entertain eating it, their sense of smell is too good to make an error like that. |

I unno. I wouldn't because I am a worry freak. If it smells though I wouldn't re-freeze! |

to be fair........ it's not a human that's eating it!
humans wouldn't naturally feast on a 2 days dead rodent in the wild........but a snake quite likely would and with no ill effects. |

Dont do it.
You shouldnt refreeze meat that you are going to cook in future would you???? A mouse being defrosted twice will be full of bacteria, and then given raw isnt a good idea.
If you are worried about wasteing a mouse feed one a night and if that one dont feed give the mouse to one of the others. |

i do!! and one of my snakes actually has a preference for re-frozen and re-thawed prey
obviously if it's too far gone the snake will refuse to eat it, and they're a better judge than we are. if it IS refused just be prepared to defrost another.
ultimately, most snakes are also opportunists that will quite happily take recently deceased prey! |
