Hey all,

I'm thinking about buying a Corn Snake but I may be moving country soon

Just wondering about some things.

I currently live in Leeds but I'm moving back to Dubai in 2012 and if I buy one I will have to transport it.

Anyone know of any good carriers that will be able to transport it there?

Also does anyone know if I need documentation to export it?

Cheers
Max

how about a local species? it may not be out of the ordinary over there, but something different for yourself - I found this on google: http://www.uaeinteract.com/nature/reptile/index.asp

Be worth seeing what the market is like over there and if there's a demand.
Depending on how much it'd cost, it may work out quite profitible to bring a few over.

They cost about £400 minimum there and I'm not sure if you can buy hachlings too

It does seem like the smart thing to do but buying one over there would be just as costly as shipping it over I would say. I had a look over there and they were pretty expensive. I also don't know for sure how long it will be till I move there :)

I thought that too Strawb. It could be very costly to fly a snake over.

I'm probably showing my ignorance here, but could you possibly by your snake when your in Dubai?
I've know idea what the herp situation is over there.

heya and welcome

i don't know of any international couriers and i'd check with DEFRA about the export reqirements, though these will be less stringent if the animal isn't going to return to the UK. DEFRA will also know the legal requirements for a reptile to enter the UAE.
