Posted - 25/03/2011 : 20:42:12 Does shedding affect a cornsnakes bowel movements?! Vin was always very regular with his movements, but since shedding he seems to be pooing twice as much! In his water bowl, which is a new trick for him lol the poohs appear normal and he's extremly lively! I'm feeding every 5 days currently. Is it possible to feed a pinkie and a 1/2?
So to sum up, 2 questions:
1) Does shedding affect bowel movements? 2) If your corn is running around the day after eating, should he be moved up to 2 pinkies? He's approx 6 months old and 22 inches long
Thanks |

As for poo soooooooo much more with 2 pinkies one of which was exploded all over the viv wall .....nice!!
Pinkie sausage! What a great idea! I'll definately do that not liking the exploding poo, not so great but I can put up with it for him! Best get used to it if I'm determined to get a slightly larger breed of snake! |

True gp! Just wish he'd stop doing it in his water! Maybe he finds it relaxing lol he's due a feed tomorrow night so I'll try to select one normal pinkie and see if i've got any small-ish ones and see how he manages, if he seems to struggle a bit or suddenly seems like he's got too full a tummy I can always downsize again |

Posted - 25/03/2011 : 21:33:52 Thanks Herriotfan, I was quite tempted to do that, all that's stopped me is a worry he'd regurge, but I'm quite sure he'd manage 2 |

Posted - 25/03/2011 : 21:24:06 I'd be inclined to feed him 2 pinkies at each meal until they've all gone then move up a size. I'd go back to feeding every 7 days though. Snakes are opportunist feeders so it's not uncommon for them to appear hungry and looking for more....cunning! You may find that he poos more because he's exercising more. |

Posted - 25/03/2011 : 21:03:20 I'm currently feeding one pinkie every 5 days, the store I got him from was feeding one pinkie weekly which I tried to carry on, but he seemed starving! So we reduced the time between to 5 days.
He has a small bump, but nothing huge. He just seems so lively straight after eating, he used to hide for 2 days, now he's climbing the rooftops the next morning! |
