Hi
I know that as a rule corns do not need lighting. However, I have a very dark box in the corner of my living room. I was thinking about putting a light source in. The viv is only 2'' long and so I was thinking of using an Exo Tetra UV 2.0 13w bulb.
Do you think this would be ok?? I am told that the heat given off by these bulbs is minimum and they are used mainly as a light source.
What are any bodies thought???

Yeah found them on Ebay, thanks. Sorry another question. Can corns see the moon light ones? I'm thinking have a normal white light to run 8am-8pm but then have moon light from 8pm-10:30pm. is this to much for him?? Sorry to ask so many questions. Just had never thought about lighting till I got my new viv. Now I need to learn it all quickly. |

You can buy a digital timer from tesco for a few quid and the LED's are seriously cheap on ebay. |

WOOO Really liking the LED strip lighting. Could I put these on to a timer? I'd want to give Mo some sort of routine with his lighting (eg day and night) like I do with my fish. And where can I get the stuff from??

I use LED strips as well and think they are great!
They are really bright but give off very little heat and they look much nicer than a big ugly bulb and guard. |

I got some strip LEDs that were recommended on here back about November I think, very low voltage and practically cold when they're running. This I paid about £14 ish and they'll cost pennies to run. They have a dimmer switch on the plug which is very handy |

How long would the light be on for and is there a bulb fitting in the viv already?
If the light is going to be on quite a few hours of the night these might be a good option, they look a tad easier to fit rather than screwing in bulb holders and wiring!

If the lights aren't going to be on much, push LED's may also be a good idea :) Just peel back off and stick XD

Thanks for that Gmac, Thought It would need to be a UVA bulb but energy saving would be loads cheaper, and yeah will be covering it.
Sta-ple it a wooden viv so will need some playing with to get cable in but thats fine. Does it make any difference?? |

What kind of viv is it? Is it one of those exo terras with a built in bulb thing or a wooden one? |

i think you would be cheaper to use an energy saver bulb, they are cheaper to buy and do the same thing. they give off minimal heat but still must be guarded |
