i use aspen, but will be going over to a rubberstrate, its a reusable substrate made of rubber, looks just like aspen, comes in diff colours, you just wash it

may smell like new trainers when you first get it, but a good wash soon gets rid of the smell

So after you wash it how do you dry it? Seems like a lot of hassle plus its not going to absorb anything. I'm too lazy for substrate that needs washing lol

Yea that will be fine, i feed mine in her faun as she gets very jumpy at feeds and evil lol, so i just take out one of her hides so there is enough space forsome kitchen roll and place it on top of the aspen and the dangle it so she can strike at it... so that will be fine :)

our juvies are on kitchen roll, adults on aspen and breeders are on newspaper.
quick and easy to clean out and they pretty much all get fed in their vivs/RUBs as it's quicker, easier and safe on the substrates we use

One on my corns is still on aspen and I do exactly that and it works fine.

I use Megazorb, clumps nicely, absorbs smells and is very cheap for the amount you get.

I've used a variety of substrates but now I only use aspen. My snakes like to bury in it and it's soft for them.
Feeding on aspen will be fine as long as you use kitchen roll like you said.

using aspen or shredded paper at the min. if u get alot of junk mail like i do or need to get rid of old bills the shredded paper option is great because its free- once you have a shredder.

mine have kitchen towel with paper shreddings at the moment, and in a few weeks we are getting them a load of aspen to use instead of paper shreddings but ptutting newspaper under it as well

I use aspen for my snakes, although I'm planning on switching to auboise when the aspen has ran out after hearing the rave reviews.

I use aspen because it looks much nicer than newspaper or kitchen roll, obviously more important in a viv or, in my case, an Exo terra than a rub, and it is really absorbent. Plus with newspaper or kitchen roll you need to change the whole thing after the snake poos or there is a water spill, a real pain if you have lots of furniture (plants, vines, hides, etc) that has to be taken out every time you change the paper. Whereas with aspen you can just scoop up the soiled bedding. I feed Barnaby in a separate tub so don't have the worry of him swallowing any of the aspen.

I've found a local horse supplier who sells bales of aubiose, which is far cheaper but looks the same as aspen, so I think I'll move on to that once I use up the remaining aspen.

I use aubiose which is aspen for horses lol. They like it as they burrow in it and I like it as it sucks up the poops :p Megazorb was also good for them to do this with but it was a bit too dusty. I didn't like kitchen roll or newspaper. Was so annoying if like yu spilt a drop of water while doing water changes or they pooped I found as everything had to come out XD

I use beech chip but its not absorbant. Considering changing to paper. Had to keep and adult on paper for a while for health reasons and it was brilliant so much easier.

Aspen is fine but I use kitchen roll :)
