Frank and Keith moved into their new vivs 10 days ago. Both vivs 2ft x 18" have the same decor numerous cardboard tubes an egg box lid and plenty of silk plants for coverage. They both have heat mats and warm end temps are 27-28c with digital thermometer. Frank is fine with the change out and about every evening climbing all over the place. Keith on the other hand is very quiet I haven't seem him out and about apart from the first couple of evenings of him being in there. He always has been less confident than Frank. Both Frank and Keith have eaten in there new vivs with no problems.
Do you think I am being impatient and Keith is just going to take a little longer to settle in to his new home?

maybe i will leave it a while, just put some aspen shavings in and she has burried herself away, I know she has only been here 4 days but i bought her home in her original tank, bought a new hide and new water bowl. thought she would at least have a look about lol hopefully she will settle a little when she has been here longer.

Keith is 7 months old 2ft long and weighs 60g but he just didn't like the 2ft viv. I have another the same size and age and he seems fine in his 2ft viv. So i guess it really does just depend on the individual snake.

What age are you snakes, i have mine in a large faunarium, but it is unsightly in my front room ;-). My snake (who still has no name) in only 8 months old and I am dying to get her a 2ft viv, but i did wonder if she would just hide all the time. I fed her 2 days ago, i didn't see her until this morning which i expected, but she has gone straight back under the newspaper again..

Well I gave Keith a chance to settle but he just didn't seem happy. So I have put him into a medium faunarium and he seems alot happier. Been out and about in the evenings and in the mornings so I guess he prefers alot smaller home.

Thanks for that folks, he ate again today so he can't be too bothered by his new viv. He must just prefer life in his kitchen towel tube devil of a job to get him out of it though lol.

out of my 6 i can tell you that 2 will take interest in new changes and me making noise near them, the other 4 won't give a monkeys,
some snakes just don't come out much

I know how you feel. I put nekko in his new home and apart from exploring on the first day i havnt seen him, he hides inside a tree he has in the corner, if i move the tree round he goes back round to the back of it where i cant see him. He has eaten in it twice so he cant be to put off by the move. He will be out n about when he is ready.

You've already said that he's a bit shy so it's going to take him longer to settle into a new viv. He might just be one of those snakes that prefer to hide. Not all snakes are out and about all the time!

I change Tiko's viv round when I clean him out, just to give him a new place to explore. It normally takes him a day or 2 to get used to that so I guess some will take a little longer to adjust to change.

I am having the same issue with my anery corn that I rehomed. She is in a 3ft tanks and I hardly ever see her. Her previous owner did say she was a shy snake but tbh most of the time you would think I have an empty tank on display! I don't know how long she has lived in the tank but I have owned her over 2 weeks now and seen her out and about maybe 3 times!

I'm thinking of putting her in a large rub and seeing if she does better in there.

Maybe Keith will just take a little while to settle or he may just be a shy boy!
