can only get the heat up to 25.6c before the mat stat turns off, even though on the mat stat I have got it turned to 34c, the highest it will go.

the heat mat is 7w, 11" x7"

faun is the large flat exo terra

substrate is just kitchen paper

also the mat is directly below the faun, sitting on a poly tile, the mat stat sensir is taped to the mat and directly underneath the faun

any ideas what could be wrong?

thanks

mat stat dial is set to just below 30c so think that is right now?

think I have got it sorted now, got the proble inside laying flat and that seems to have made a big difference, got it steady at 28.6c.

put the stat sensor inside and its worse now, gone down to 24.2c, took the poly tile away and its dropped below 24c.

could it be a faulty mat stat?

could the room being quite cold make any difference? its in a spare bedroom that rarely has the central heating on.

it's a digital thermometer, can't even get past that temp with a 5L rub, thought the faun might be letting out too much heat with the amount of holes it has.

Move the probe to the inside of the faun, move it around until you get the correct temp inside the faun.

Are the probes for both the thermometer and the thermostat together (if you have a digital thermometer). If its a dial than thats the problem, dial thermometers are only measuring ambient temprerature (and they do apoopjob of that too). I would reccommend you turn the stat down immediately and go get a digital thermometer, or place the dial thermometer on the mat to get a closer reading until you can get one..
