I was awoken this morning to a tapping noise and some cat movement I went into find my cat had removed the cardboard from the viv doors opened it and to my horror no snake was in there. I started to panic Then out corner of my eye I see something move at too my amazement it was Zeus hiding behind all my CDs I moved them slowly he went for me obviously scared then had a wee and pooh on me before safely returning him to his home and fittin stronger cardboard wedges so glad he is ok my lock won't fit as glass too close together!!! Cat now not allowed in that room

you'd need a vice or two sets of pliers to reshape the lock but remember no matter how much you straighten it out the lock mechanism has a back to it so it has to sit proud a little bit.

Yeah I tried everything but my lock will not fit I may try straightening it out just not sure how to go about it!!

I have both my viv's locked with viv-locks. The fit is very very tight but it does only just fit. There will be a lock out there that will fit your vivarium.

I need to get a viv lock for my viv for a very similar reason. I have a rather inteligent dog who has realised she can slide the glass with her nose. Thankfully when she did open it she just sat there clueless as to where the snake was. At the minute i have a spoon wedged in the gap between the glass, which has worked well.

Sasha has since lost interest in the snakes and now sits staring into the fish tank, occasionally diving when she sees one she likes.

Wow you were unbelievably lucky! I know if any of my cats were that determined to open the viv door they would have killed my snakie :( Lock might be good in the future, wedges the cats could knock on my vivs :/

That's my worst fear, an escaped snake! I bet you were so happy to see him, even if he did make a mess on you.
