Posted - 09/01/2011 : 17:23:42 The place I get my mice from always gets the bags of the different sizes I want out of the freezer and I choose my own. I think that's a great way of buying them because even within the same 'size catagory' they vary so much! Ask if you could do that same. |

Posted - 09/01/2011 : 15:33:45 as kehhlyr says power feeding isnt always the healthiest option for a number of reasons, not least of all that cornsnakes get fat quite easily and have trouble gettin rid of the weight once its on. 2 pinkies isnt too dramatic, i would probably be feeding 2 at that age anyway. the 5 month old i got my lil bro for xmas was on 3 pinkies a week!
like herriot says, they will nearly always seek food if available but he will grow in his own time, try to be patient! ;) i know its hard but he'll get there! |

Posted - 09/01/2011 : 11:59:04 You could give your snake 2 pinkies and if he eats and digests them ok then you can move up a size. Most snakes will look for more food, it's normal because they eat when the opportunity presents itself. In the wild they wouldn't eat again for goodness knows how long! |

Posted - 09/01/2011 : 05:08:04 They might grow quicker, but that's not always good for snakes to grow quicker. Your snake might possibly be ready to go up to double pinkies all I can suggest is that if it's been on single pinks for 4 months, then depending on how big the bulge is after feeding to decide on whether to go up to double pinks. In regards feeding more to grow quicker, it's known as 'power-feeding' there's still a lot of dispute in regards health issues with snakes when this is done, but the general consensus is that it's not all good for them. |
