I have a heatstat mat and cant get the plug off!!- there is a hole in the back for a cable to go through. also are heat mats ok for a larger viv or should i get a heat lamp? many thanks for any help Debbie

Vivariums look so good when they are set up.

Thanks soooo much for all the replies, we've really appreciated your support.
Have decided we will cut the plug off tomorrow, feed the cable through the hole and then put the plug back on.
It will be really good to get him in his new home!

Happy New Year!!

is it a flat pack wooden viv thing?? If so then if you take the lid of you will be able to slide the mat in with the cable through the hole and the plug out side!! Simples!!

If you drill a hole just wide enough to put the stat probe through to start with you will find that the probes cable is thinner than the probe itself and the heat mat's cable will fit nicely in the gap and is a very snug fit. (It was in my setup anyway)

Easiest thing to do is dissconnect the plug drill a small hole just to fit cable through then drill a seperate whole for the sensor as a hole to fit both through would be too big that what a done with mine and it works fine and all cables r hidden bargain!!! x

you put the heatmat in before you secure the lid on lol
ive got a similar set up,
heat matt will be fine, my snakey is ok with it, on the care sheet it says heat mat should cover a 1/3 of the viv dont think youll need a heat lamp, im sure someone whos more experienced with corns will confirm

if the plug doesn't come off, you can cut it off then add on a new plug. That worked for ours.

So long as the heatmat covers a third to a half of the viv floor area it is fine.

And welcome to the forum
