Posted - 30/11/2010 : 12:33:19 Just had a note through the door to say our electric is being shut off next week for 'general repairs' to the local supply. It will be off from 8.30 a.m to 5.30 p.m. With this really cold weather and no electricity I'm just a tad anxious about my reptiles. Apart from covering vivs with blankets do you have any suggestions on how to keep them warm please? It's at times like this I wish I had my own generator!! All ideas welcome. |

IMO! |

They came round and left a letter through the door of all the properties that will be cut off. If they're doing work in your area you'll get a letter. Pain in the bum!!! |

Posted - 30/11/2010 : 15:38:34 You could always put some hot water in a thermos flask. that way you could top up hot water bottles as needed |

Posted - 30/11/2010 : 14:06:59 Get up earky while you still have electric and run the bath full of scalding hot water. Then you can fill lots of water bottles and they should last a while. |

Posted - 30/11/2010 : 13:27:46 Everything will be off, so I can't even boil a kettle for hot water bottles!! Never had this problem in all the time we've lived here. Why do they want to do this now, common sense should tell them to do it in the summer.

Posted - 30/11/2010 : 12:49:39 oh no! the only heat giving thing i can think of is hot water bottles but they will be basically useless outside a viv. Will your central heating be off as a result too?? |
