All three corns tooke there pinkie straight away which was good and pleasing.I did drop one pinkie as one corn strike was so quick it caught me off guard and made me jump.
I replaced them back into there rubs after a few minutes and all three were striking at me when i went to pick them up. One caught my thumb.I feel a bit of an idiot because i decided to put on a Marigold for baby corns
I would hate the thought of an adult striking and catching me.Hopefully i gain more Dutch courage the longet i have them.Once in my hand they were fine but still moved quite quick.
Overall it was an exciting experience.
You know when they are going to strike as they curl up with there heads raised and they focus on you.When they do this do you still go ahead and pick them up? |

I handed all three today and everything went fine.I decided just to pick them up and be brave without a glove.That went straight out of the window when the first snake started to rattle it's tail which made a funny sound.I've never seen that before and my bottle went to pieces and so the glove came out.
They were perfect in my hand and didn't try to bolt.One took a minor nibble but gave up.You can feel there tongues flicking on your skin. |

I use a shoe box to feed Ruby and I lay a couple of sheets of kitchen roll on the bottom and when she has finished and I've seen the pinky go down to her belly, then I just pick up the 4 corners and lift her into her faun and off she goes to her favourite log.

You could also try leaving them in the feeding tub for 10 minutes and let them come out of hunting mode. Thats what i have to do with candy, he may be small but he's got a mighty appetite.

I used to guide my hatchling back into his tank rather than lifting him up to put him back in, just incase he bit me
I had like a long thick piece of plastic and he would lie over it and just slide right back into his tank like the graceful thing he is :')
So you could always try something like that, rather than being bitten at feeding time!

Awww, bless them! Glad the feeding went ok. They will settle down as they get to know you.
Try the old sock trick.... put an old sock in your top for the day and then pop it in the favourite hide of your hatchling. The sock will be a constant reminder of your smell so you will be less of a threat when you go into their home! My Sid still lays on an old sock under his log, bless him.  |

I would feed every 5-6 days whilst there on pinkies, and extend the time between feeds as you offer large prey items. |

Cheers Hannah.I will continue to educate them that i'm not a threat.
I did notice that none of them constricted the pinkie.When do i feed them next? |

great news that they all fed ok
until they realise you aren't a threat then yes they probably will go to strike you, remember they see a massive hand coming out of the sky to scoop them up and cart them off somewhere else, eventually they will come to realise that its not as scary as it looks and will stop
also its a defense mechanism, if you back off everytime they do it then in their little minds its working and they will keep doing it, if you pick them up regardless then they should realise soon enough that no amount of snapping and rattling will stop you |
