Posted - 30/08/2010 : 22:45:28 I'm just about to move my corn onto fuzzies, but I think maybe i've left it too long? He's on 3 laaarge pinkies every week which the pet shop advised me to do but after reading a post on here I think maybe I should have moved him onto fuzzys already? he's a year old, but he can only just fit these pinkies into his mouth (well, im sure he could stretch further but I dont want him to rip his neck open! I sound like a worried mother.)
If you guys think I should move him onto fuzzys should I give him 1 or 2 a week? Thankyou :) |

Posted - 30/08/2010 : 22:57:00 The usual rule is - food item no bigger than one and a half times the snake's girth. It's amazing how their throat and neck will stretch - they're like pelicans!
Having said that, I once fed a snake an item that I thought suitable for her - she took it, and then spat it out. She did eat a smaller left-over mouse. I reckon they know what to do. I don't think you need to fear that the snake will injure itself.
All the best! |

Posted - 30/08/2010 : 22:56:51 you can try it with a fuzzy see how it goes, they can stretch quite a bit. Dont rush it onto 2 fuzzies, make sure it is comfortable with 1 first before you move onto 2.
Just make sure the fuzzy is not greater than 1.5 x your snakes girth at its widest point. |
