I currently have TaLuLa who I bought as a (high orange) amel, and i'm gettimg a new snake in the next few weeks which is very likely to be another corn (of course!!) which i'm considering as a potential future mating pair.... my thoughts are an amel striped but was wondering what morph(s) would make the most intresting pairing? thanx in advance for any info

Yes that would be fine.

Didn't you recommend getting a different stat for it a moment ago???
Quick backtrack then, but I wouldn't worry about it, I don't think anyone noticed.

What so because i didn't think using one stat for 2 mats would work i therefore think that you have to cover the whole mat and can't just cover 1/3 of the faun with it?

mikeyd_26 Posted - 28/08/2010 : 23:34:54
@ gmac
would it be a problem if the size of the mats were different?
mikeyd_26 Posted - 28/08/2010 : 23:32:46

not true, I run multiple mats from stats with no problems whatsoever, so long as the mats are same size and wattage it is fine. No tweaking necessay

Unless you know wether Talula has any hets, and know what they are, your only possible outcomes are amel and normal. Any amel based morph (eg. Snow, butter, fire) will give you amels het what ever other gene(s) make up that morph. Any morph which dosn't contain the Amel gene will give you normals het for Amel and the genes which make up your other snakes morph.

So for example

Amel x Amel - Amels no hets
Amel x Butter - Amels het butter Caramel
Amel x Ghost - Normals het Amel, Anery, Hypo.

Edit: Although it is possible to run 2 mats from one stat, i wouldn't recommend it as one mat could heat up quicker than the other and it could be hard to tweak the thermostat to get the right temps on both stats, much easier and safer to just buy another stat.

oh yeah and is it safe to run 2 heat mats off one thermostat?.... and can you do this using an extention lead? I understand as long as it does'nt exceed 100w it should be ok (on a mat stat) but wanted to check if this is safe practice?
