That's brilliant! Lol Also how active they are depends on the time of year it is, well for mine anyway.

All ratsnakes I can think of are indeed diurnal, hence the shape of their pupil.
They are most active morning and evening.
stotty01 Posted - 28/08/2010 : 17:56:21
now she sat in her hide poking her head out to say 'i smell other snakies....you been cheating on me' :P

Er, what's a hoover? (flicks dust off the laptop ...)
Sta~ple Posted - 27/08/2010 : 21:43:43
Your lucky you see your's at night, one of mine I never, ever see her out. As your snake get's older it may get more confident and appear out more. If you get the hoover out that normally gets them all up :)

Trust me, being pestered can sometimes feel very weird, my 9 year old corn will literally wake up the moment I get up and stay awake if I am at home all day until I go to bed. If I move about from one side of my room, to the other he will follow, he will always have at least one eye on me, bit weird when your trying to get dressed or if you have guests round.

Ooooooo getting another one........tell us, tell us!!!!
BurnedAtTheStake Posted - 27/08/2010 : 20:41:26
I always understood them to be most active in the early evening - hence 'semi-nocturnal' - but have come to realise that corns NEVER CONFORM!

Corns do their own thing.

Hey, Stotty, when you get your candy cane, Medusa will probably get jealous, and be out all the time - they're like that - awkward little gits!

And - off topic - YAAAY I've got me 3 stars!
drchino Posted - 27/08/2010 : 20:33:05
My snake comes out about the same time I get home most days
HannahB Posted - 27/08/2010 : 20:14:07
i think corns are diurnal - is that how its spelt?? they tend to be out more in the morning and evenings but having said that some are out all the time and others are rarely out..
my lot have their moments where none of them are out and then some nights all of them are out, although having said that if you make a noise near the vivs then lucien will always pop his head out from wherever he is hiding and will watch you until he realises that theres nothing in it for him

Most corns don't come out untill night time, or atleast tea time.

I've had Casper for around almost 9 months and she still only comes out of a night time. Reggies a bit nosier though, he can be seen out pretty much whenever there is someone in my room.
BurnedAtTheStake Posted - 27/08/2010 : 19:43:09
True, they are all different, but they change as they grow. Some of mine are bolder these days; another is much shyer; in a few weeks they may all be completely different. From what I've observed, they seem to go in phases; two months ago Saffron, my eldest, was always up at the viv window, wanting to come out. But for the last few weeks, despite eating and shedding well, she hasn't bothered. They are semi-nocturnal, of course, but many come out in the day.

They are awkward little gits! In another few weeks, your Medusa may be pestering the life out of you!

Good luck!

i agree, only had Caspernear on 2 months and he is still shy as anything.
Cherry on the otherhand is too socible to be a corn i think lol shes ALWAYS out as soon as we go in the room and weve only had her like 3 weeks
herriotfan Posted - 27/08/2010 : 19:23:05
Don't worry, 3 months isn't a long time for some snakes to still be shy.
Give her more time and just keep handling her on a regular basis so she knows you.
However you might just have a shy snake that will never be totally comfortable about being out and about in public.
