Posted - 24/08/2010 : 13:38:01 i was going to post this is 'corn related DIY' but it is locked.
so, i am planning on getting a hatchie (sometime) but i have a problem: a faun or rub isnt much good as my hatchie's home will sit quite closely into some shelves. so not much room to access things from above - about 5cms.
i was going to buy a 3ft viv and partition it but dont have the funds right now.
i have some conti board in the garage so i have designed a viv about the same size as a faunarium. that way it can sit on my shelves and i can have front access.
anyway, my plans are drawn to scale and i thought i would share them incase anyone is interested. it is designed to house a 6"x11" heatmat. pretty standard stuff but it may be of use to someone.

Posted - 24/08/2010 : 15:40:19 its perspex, 4mm. it will be drilled and bolted (neat rounded end facing inwards). i think this will be more secure than runners for a tiny hatchie. my wife has big fears of escape! plus i like that i will have easy access to all the viv at once for cleaning etc. its only a small viv, 45cm long so runners would be a little fiddly i think.
the top latches arent drawn very well, they are simple turn buttons. i will have 2 small pieces of dowel on the inside (one at both sides) to stop the perspex falling into the viv. hope that makes sense!
