Posted - 19/08/2010 : 23:20:13 I came up to check on my snakes when I couldn't find one of them with the door closed and locked. What can I do to help him find his way back home and where would be a good place to hide? HELP URGENTLY NEEDED AS I AM IN BITS!! Thanks |

Posted - 20/08/2010 : 15:04:39 I HAVE FOUND HIM!!!!!!! He was hiding in a box with all my school books etc, if me and my dad hadn't of looked I doubt he wouldn't of popped out until much later as he is very shy and not active, and VERY COLD!! Thanks for the tips and if it ever happens again,(hopefully not) I will know what to do!! x |

Luckily I measured him yesterday, he is 97-98cm long, He's 2yrs old and about an inch in diameter, The only major worry is that I live in a very old house and I have some very big cupboards in my room So it is going to be very hard to find him again I have placed water bowls out around my room and a water bottle trap, with bait in the middle of the room, By the doors of my cupboards I have put flour so I can see if he has moved about but no sign yet, later me and my dad are going to have a good look in a cupboard that I think he could be in but hopefully he will pop out soon |

Posted - 20/08/2010 : 08:11:41 Thanks, I always check on them before I go to bed and Moo is known to bury himself, We checked under all his hides and through all the substrate, I had my mum and my brother looking as well it really is a mystery, there were no holes, no gaps, no gaps where the vents are. The only thing could be that I left his door open, which doesn't seem right as I was up stairs at like 9:00, He was there, came back at 11 and he was gone, both times the doors were shut with a wedge. I will read the threads you have given me and thanks for your help! x |

Posted - 20/08/2010 : 07:25:50 I would echo above. Have a good search through the substrate and all your viv decorations. Then have a read through this thread. There are many more about lost snakes if you search but Kellogs posts are always good. http://www.thecornsnake.co.uk/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=7545&SearchTerms=lost,snake I know it's hard but try not to panic. Many people on here have lost snakes and they have turned up anything from a couple of hours to 7 months later. My Izzy disappeared and I found him under the sofa a couple of metres from his viv. Good luck |

Posted - 19/08/2010 : 23:51:09 yeah, check in your substrate, it sometimes looks as though mine isnt there, but she's just buried herself. |

Posted - 19/08/2010 : 23:32:25 if the door is still closed and all the vents are in place is it definitely missing? have you checked everywhere inside the viv? sorry for sounding patronising but it does happen lol
search on here for lost snake there's plenty of info and advice
and good luck! |
