Yes, but there are many types of mental illness, and people, whether mentally or physically ill, may be evil, benign, stupid or responsible, according to temperament. Many mentally ill people, even psychotic or bipolar, cherish their pets and in fact endeavour to stay well enough to look after them properly. I know of at least one case where the person stays out of hospital/off incapacitating medication and cares about keeping a variety of pets well looked after.

I'm not excusing R Moat - I don't read papers and have no TV so I don't know the details or whether he was diagnosed as being mentally ill. Sane or insane, he seems to have been a total idiot. (How come the python had access to the chinchilla in the first place?)

I realise what you mean, though - any derogatory label the anti-snake camp can fling at us, they will ...

12ft long hope my 2 don't grow to that size lol 5ft big enough for me you would need steroids to be able to handle it if it were that size...I don't get it how did they smell I can only imagine he wasn't cleaning them out as I don't smell mine at all.

He warmed his rats in a microwave? They could have been part cooked and part frozen! He liked to wear a large python round his neck, as we're always warned against? Pity it didn't constrict!

As for the chinchilla ... how come the python didn't eat it after it had constricted?

And four days for the poor old chinchilla to be found ... it's like we were saying on Josh's 'Not Poisonous, Venomous' thread, it's the idots who get into the news and give a bad name to responsible owners.

Shut up, BATS, you're going into a rant ...

yeah surely you would realise it would be dead when you checked them when you got home from work
Kehhlyr Posted - 17/08/2010 : 00:16:37
She took 4 days to find it dead, that just screams poor ownership anyway.
