I was advised that hides can cause insulation over heat mats and only have a hide over on the cool side? Will my corn still want to go over to the hot end if he doesn't have a hide there?

It's ok i got in more and the sensors stay flat. Just needed to adjust the rubber band slighlty. Now all i need is to get the temp right with this microclimate thermomstat!

Do i need the probes right down on the heat mat? to get a good reading? If i put it in more i won't get it right down.

you really want it in a bit,you can have right inside the hide so if the corn moves the hide the probe will stay in postion and not pop out making the mat heat up too much

Can i out the probes on the edge of the mat ( but on the black where the heat comes from) and hold down the probe and sensor down with the hide? That is just what i have done. Is that ok?

ignor microclimate, they dont keep snakes just make the equipment,if you dont have a warm hide your snake will chose security over warm and probaly die from not being able to digest its food in the cold end.place the probe on the mat and use the hide to keep it in place.T he snake laying on the probe is not a problem as he warms up the probe will too.

I was also told that i need to have the probe sensor and thermometer probe in the middle of the heat mat and if i put a hide over it wouldn't the snake perhaps lie on the probes?

It was on both the microclimate and habistat instuctions. I spoke to someone there today and told me a hide would act as a insulator on the warm side.

where are you getting your advice tigerlily, it really isnt the best. Corns are relatively secretive animals that like to hide away so you really should give it hides at both ends, If the mat is statted there is no issues with the heat whasoever.
