Posted - 30/07/2010 : 21:10:33 I've spoken to someone from microclimate and they said i could wall mount my heat mat from the inside. Does anyone think it would be effective? |

Wall mounting mats is pointless as matty said, they generally heat on contact so if on the wall they wont really heat anything.
Probes best on the mat. with only about a cm of substrate over the mat.
With the aspen over the probes or the probes over the aspen? I currently have a space on the mat for the probes with the aspen around the rest of the mat. I just sprinkled it on. |

Posted - 30/07/2010 : 22:40:47 Mats should be on the base of the Viv and statted, that will heat the substrate to the correct temps required rof your corn snake. about 27 - 29 in the hot end.
Also curious to know what VET gave you that information so that i dont ever go there, your VET is not giving you very good advice. |

Posted - 30/07/2010 : 22:33:58 I only really want to raise it a couple of degrees and still keep it cooler than using the lamp i was using which was too high. |

I spoke to the vet and he said that the substrate acts like a barrier for the heat and won't get through. |
