how long does it normally take for a corn snake to shed cuz my corn snake, tango, has been looking very pale for the past 4-5 days and his eyes have only just changed colour, what should i do? |

For instance, my big male takes abou two weeks, he dulls down then completely blues over, then he comes out of it after like 5 days, then another 5 days later he sheds, (on average)
My male Blaze just goes pinky/milky, he's like it for 2 days then, well it took him 2 days this shedding, to get from out of the milky stage to fully crawling out of his skin.
As Graeme rightly so said with every snake its different.

Gmac is right Meggy, snakes dont keep to a definite timetable with regard to their shedding.
With mine I can tell they are going to shed as their belly colour changes a few days before their eyes cloud over. Then their eyes stay cloudy for about 4 days. Once they have cleared up it is about another 4 days before they shed....but they never keep to this definitely, it is just a rough idea as to what mine have done so you know what sort of timescale to expect with Tango.
Once his eyes have cleared and a few days have passed you need to look out for him being a bit more active, then rubbing his head along the sides of his viv, hide, any branches, etc. This happens because he is trying to loosen the shed from around his jaw....and once that has loosened then it can happen very quickly! But be warned....I am convinced there is a corn-conspiracy ! They seem to wait until their owners leave the room and then slip out of their old skin and slither round quite happily in their new bright colours showing them off when their owners return to the room....with their old skin lying forlorn in the corner  . Seriously though, a lot of corns shed at night and I know a number of members havent had the chance to see their corns shed....despite keeping them for a number of years. So I really do hope you get lucky and get to see Tango shed.
What is vital once he has shed is checking the shed skin for the eye caps and tail tip....as if these are retained they can cause problems. If the shed is not a clean one then you know where you can come for help.

there is nothing you really need to do, your snake will shed shortly. Snakes shed over different timescales so dont worry about it. |
