Posted - 11/07/2010 : 21:16:19 hiya , tobasco has re-fused his feed. We tryed feeding him yesterday - refused and today -refused. Today we left it `till it was much later , dark and cooler , because it has been very warm recently by me , and it didn`t really cool down last night until late , could this be it??? i know corn snakes aren`t designed to take EVERY feed , but his never re - fused before. He is approx 150g , he is on medium mice evry 7 days. Could it be that he is if not hungry??? i know that they are oppitune feeders but????? i know it long winded , thanks so much megxx |

Posted - 12/07/2010 : 11:42:35 Colin used to feed throughout shedding but now will not go near a mouse if there is even any hint of a shed. This means I only get to feed him four weeks out of every six and it doesnt do him any harm. As said above missing a feed isnt a big deal I wouldnt worry bout it just yet.
Editted to add: Colin was hormonal recently and refused food for nearly four months and my Xena didnt eat for the first seven months of her life (proper dustbin now mind will have a go at anything) which just goes to show how long they can go without eating for. |

Posted - 12/07/2010 : 08:09:45 As above, and to add, the heat isn't gonna make any difference, the temp in your room is not gonna get much above 28 - 30 anyway, my room sits at 28 normally, and even with all the heat its only just touching 29. Corns can deal with an aweful lot more heat than many people seem to think possible, the whole 28c thing is an average temp throughout the year, it takes into account the fact that earlier and later in the year the temps can be lower than 28, and in the middle of summer, it can reach into the 40's, more in direct sunlight. A couple of weeks of extra warmth really won't do any harm, as long as your mat is statted, it will turn off when its really warm, so the snake isn't actually gonna get that hot. Just because it feels hot to us, doesn't mean it does to them! |

Posted - 11/07/2010 : 21:31:23 Leave the mouse in his viv tonight and then leave him7 days and try again regardless of wether he takes it or not.
Ninja Edit: If he is going into shed it may be worth just leaving him untill after he has shed and hopefully he will take it then. Reggie has refused when coming upto a shed before today when he usually takes it every time. |
