So, I found this gorgeous cabinet in a second hand shop. In the photo, it is on it's side, as I intend to use it. I thought, that it could be used as two vivs. Please tell me if not but this is my plan.

The glass shelf/divider, is secure in place and doesn't move. There is a 5mm gap between the divider and the glass in the door. I intend to seal this gap using a foam draft excluder strip secured to the door glass.

I was thinking of using air drying clay to cover up the hinges. Is that safe for the snakes? I would have thought so but I had better check.

Also, I think that the carcass is pine. I've read that it can be toxic to snakes so I will need to seal it. What should I use? Should I use varnish or could I use paint?
